As is typical for this time of year, clubs have begun to roll out their new threads for the upcoming season. Anticipation builds as we get to see players don the latest kits for the very first time,

Keep reading to see some of the top jerseys that you will be seeing on the pitch soon when the 2019/20 season kicks off, and learn a little more behind their inspiration.

Chelsea

Since 1905, Chelsea FC has called Stamford Bridge home. The 2019/20 kit is a fitting tribute to the iconic stadium, with the jersey covered in a graphic that features images of the North, East, and West Stands as well as Shed End.

Complete with a V-neck and a red tab monogrammed with a logo of the club’s lion mascot on the collar, the Blues will look sharp as they aim to recapture Premier League glory.

Juventus

The motto of this year’s Juventus home jersey reads, “Be the Stripes” which draws focus to the sharp pink line that runs down the center of the shirt.

This deviation from Juve’s traditional black-and-white stripes is striking, but it signals that the club is daring to change as it chases major European titles.

Bayern

Similar to the approach taken by Nike and Chelsea, the design pattern for the 2019/20 Bayern Munich comes from its home ground, the Allianz Arena.

The stadium is encapsulated by diamond-shaped panels of glass, which is replicated across the front of the top.

Inter

Blast from the past — the new Inter Milan home kit is a throwback based on features from the one worn during the 1989/90 season.

This is evident with the inclusion of diagonal stripes through the center of the shirt, which were present in the old Inter crest and jerseys.

Liverpool

Pinstripes make a return with the 2019/20 Liverpool home jersey by New Balance. The shirt celebrates Bob Paisely, the Reds’ most successful manager in history, by inscribing his signature inside the collar.

The golden crest are embroidered, and stand out nicely against the deeper red fabric. Could we see Liverpool lift the Premier League trophy in these threads come next May?

Dortmund

No surprises here. The latest Puma creation for Borussia Dortmund is yellow and black, albeit with a unique striped pattern on top of the shoulders.

Inside the collar is a tag which reads, “110 Jahre. Gestern. Heute. Morgen” (110 Years. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.) in reference to the 100th anniversary of Dortmund’s founding.

Manchester United

The first thing many Red Devils fans will notice is the black backing behind the crest. This style harks back to the shirt worn during United’s treble-winning season of 1999.

Tributes to their historic Champions League victory are located on the sleeves, where the minutes of the goals scored in the final against Bayern Munich are printed (90+1' and 90+3'). Inside of the neck, the dates of all three major trophy wins can be seen — May 16th (Premier League), May 22nd (FA Cup) and May 26th (Champions League).
